A little remodeling

What started out as just a repainting job has turned into new carpet and "new" walls.

Yesterday I realized that the walls in our house are way too textured to put decals on.  Each decal would have little pock marks sticking through it.  See...

So today I began the process of removing the texture in the nursery.  Thank you Dremel Multi-Max for making my life easier!

2/3 of one wall done in about 45 minutes.  Not too bad.  Much better than having to scrape or sand myself!

18 months later

And we finally have chairs for our dinning room!

The table and buffet came from Primitives in Austin, TX.
The side chairs from EG Amish Furniture in Clear Lake, TX.
And the end chairs from Ethan Allen.

We wanted to match the side chairs to the lighter part in the table so everything wasn't exactly the same color, I think they turned out pretty well.

So, who's coming over for dinner?  We can seat 10 like this, and 14 if we open it up all the way and squeeze a little.

Christmas Snow

Every year I wish for a white Christmas, and this year I got my wish!

Around 7pm on Christmas Eve it started snowing, a few flakes at first, I didn't think much of it, but then it kept coming and coming.  We finally left my friends back country house just before 8pm and the roads were already covered in at least 2-3 inches of snow.  (FYI - driving back to your parents house in a rear wheel convertible mustang in the snow is really difficult).

As soon as we got back to my parents house we grabbed some old winter clothes and headed out to play in the snow like a couple of kids.  I miss snow so much, one of the downfalls to living in Texas.

We made snow angels...

And then a giant snowman...

Which had some structural integrity issues so it didn't last through the night...

Have you ever notice that you don't notice the cold when you are out playing in the snow until the snow melts and then its just freezing cold and you're standing outside saying "i'm ready for warm again"?!?!  That's about how we felt on Christmas afternoon when the sun had taken away our precious  snow angels and the ground cover, leaving only the defunct snowman laying on the ground just waiting to be peed on by the dog (yes, he did it more than once).

Fortunately, or unfortunately depending how you look at it, we got snow a second time while we were home and the ground was covered in a wonderful white glistening sheen for a few more hours.  We even got to stay home an extra day because of the weather which meant I got to spend more time with the wonderful friends who I only see every few years and my parents who I only get to see a few times a year.

Merry Christmas Everyone.  I hope it was special for all of you and you all are having a wonderful 2013!
